Thank you for sharing with us and reminding us to always try and connect with ones that are all alone this Christmas. May all remember that God is with them and He will never leave them nor forsake them. Remember you always have a friend here at my blog! Merry Christmas!

Hi Kristen,
There are many people in this world celebrate Christmas alone, including me. She is miles away; gift, wishes, phone call, sms etc are another way for us to connect. Just finish my conversation with her. Wish you will do the same with your love one soon.
Wish you Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday.
See you around.

Thanks for sharing your story, Shelley. There are thousands out there that are spending their Christmas alone. I know someone too. What a great idea to give them something to remember. I will make sure I give them a special phone call on Christmas. Thanks for the reminder and I wish you a very Merry Christmas!

Recently, I spoke with an old friend of mine from high school whose wife left him last year. He is doing his best to raise his young teen aged son. My friend has diabetes and is afflicted with peripheral neuropathy, nerve damage to the feet. He takes oral morphine at night to stop the throbbing enough to get a few hours of sleep. This is his first Christmas alone. He does know the Lord, but still the emptiness and pain surfaces fresh, especially at this time.

How many thousands are out there without someone special at Christmas? My friend lives in another state, so I cannot make him a part of our day. Why not find someone that you know may be alone for the holidays and give them something they can remember this Christmas by?

Bless your heart. I pray that God gives you peace and patience through this trying time for you. If there is one thing that I have learned with my family that are more "worldly" than I am is that I must put up boundaries with them. I don't know if you've ever read Dr. Cloud and Townsend's book - Boundaries, but it is well worth the read. It will change your life and the way of thinking! It did mine.

Thank you very much for your feedback and I pray you have a very Merry Christmas too!

Here's the link with a little more info on boundaries and the book - http://www.christnotes.org/-/_boundaries_0310585988.asp

Blessings to you!

Nice post Kristen and so true. The thing I've been telling myself is to be "give thanks" for the family members. I'm a loner and really prefer to be left alone so that I can think and write most of the time w/ the exception being my husband, children and parents. This year all 5 of my husbands children, their children and spouses will come and visit us (sleep over). I don't want to be bothered. I want to be alone. My family knows this. But they are so happy b/c it's rare that we have visits like this...extended.

I think the thing that I'm not looking forward to is their lifestyle and beliefs; they're not saved; they drink. I don't mean a drink here and there, I'm talkin' about hard alcohol everyday. although they will not bring it in our house they will have it in their cars and go back and forth w/ it. The other children who are my children age are much more "wordly" than my kids and always come here "feeling sorry" for my children who aren't allowed to do the things they do. So that's my dred. I do love my in-laws and am thankful to them for the many things, but I just dred the negativity that my children will have to see.

My sisters-in-laws and all the rest were very critical, at first, of the amount of children we had and our decision to homeschool, but now they praise us and they see God in us—they say that all the time. So that's my struggle, but that's also what I'm thankful for.

The other thing is that I need this b/c it helps me love people who are different than me. It's very easy for me to "click" w/like minded people, but I have a tendency to "stick my nose up" when it comes to other people. God has showed me this about me, so I know I have an opportunity here to "pracitce what I preach."

Anyway, very good article.

Thank you for stopping by my blog it's always nice to hear from you and thank you for joining my Ning. As you know we are the only two so far.

Blessings to you and yours and Merry Christmas :)
